Hydraulic mechanisms and pneumatics galore. Does the junk box contain enough washing up bottles and egg cartons to make a classfull moving monsters though?
No pneumatic systems here, but a really clear step by step instructional page on creating monsters. Great for instructional writing too!

The Circo Rum Ba Ba circus have made a larger than life dragon designed to amaze people when it walks down the street. The dragon costume needs two people inside it to make it move and walk. They have to get into the huge 'skin' in a special way to be able to carry its weight and to 'walk' comfortably and safely. The monster's mouth is worked from inside the body by a flexible bicycle brake cable which opens it and bungee elastic which closes it. The dragon's swivelling eyes are worked by small electric servo motors, and the smoke from the dragon's mouth comes from a miniature smoke machine, both worked remotely from inside the dragon's body.
